FOUNDER, HBO’s 100 FOOT WAVE JET SKI DRIVER, BIG WAVE SURFER

Antonio “To” Cardoso was born and raised in Nazaré, Portugal. He started his big wave career as a European Champion on the bodyboard world tour, winning the Nazare Grand Slam Series right in his backyard.

He was quickly recruited to drive jet skis for HBO’s 100 Foot Wave documentary team due to his unparalleled expertise in reading the waves at Nazaré. His safe and expert driving was the key factor in HBO winning the Emmy Award for Outstanding Cinematography in a documentary. With the best cameramen in the world on the back of his jet ski, To has gotten them into position to stare straight into the barrel of Nazaré’s Sea Monsters.

To’s success led to his recruitment for the big wave surf team “Mountains of The Sea” started by Nic Von Rupp. Within 3 months of forming they won the WSL Big Wave Championship at Nazare in 2025.

Tow is a humble, deeply empathetic human being. His superpower is reading people on the spot, allowing him to determine how far he can push them past their limits.
